Dr. Horst was born and raised in the Harrisonburg area. She graduated from Turner Ashby High School in 2003. She received a Bachelor of Arts from Eastern Mennonite University, focusing her studies on Biology and Spanish. During her time at EMU, she had the opportunity to travel and attend language school in Guatemala during a cross cultural experience. She attended the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry in Richmond, Virginia, and graduated in May of 2011, receiving her Doctor of Dental Surgery. During her time at VCU, she was awarded Outstanding Student Leader Award, and recognition of achievement from the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. She was also inducted into the dental honor’s society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

Prior to dental school, Dr. Horst was an assistant in a local dental practice for seven years. She also worked with the Harrisonburg-Rockingham Free Clinic as an assistant and then volunteered as a dentist for two years until it closed in 2013.. She became interested in dentistry when her mother suggested she do a mentorship during high school at a local dentist office. She quickly knew where her future would lead, and pursued a dental degree. She enjoys using her skill to help patients achieve oral health.
In 2009, Dr. Horst married her husband Mark, who is also from Harrisonburg. They are the proud parents of their three children: Violet, Rye, and Azalea. Dr. Horst's hobbies include tennis, golf, traveling, and spending time with her family.
